Patrick Dempsey, honorary captain of US Olympics cycling team

Patrick Dempsey, actor, best known for his role in the TV Serial “Grey’s Anatomy” will serve as the honorary captain of the US cycling team at the Tokyo Olympics this summer.

The Sport’s national governing body under new chief executive RobDeMartini is positioning itself to serve the needs of recreational riders with elite athletes.

USA cycling reached out to Patrick who is a cyclist, to help raise awareness and encourage people to ride and support the US team.

Mr. Dempsey said he has been a passionate cyclist for years; this opportunity comes once in a life time that he could not afford to miss.

He also said cycling is not just a sport but is also a life style and it is important to bring awareness to the world.  He said he is already working with former pro Tom Danielson on T20 cycling, which is an interactive cycling community that helps in staging events around the country.

USA Cycling chief commercial officer Bouker Pool said that it was an honor to share the love of the sport with the actor.
