Met Office: Last decade ‘second hottest in 100 years’

It was revealed that the last decade was the second hottest in the past 100 years in UK and the climate would still continue be warm, experts have warned us.

The Meteorological Office had said that the last 10 years from 2010 to 2019 has been the second warmest and the second wettest decade in the country over the last 100 years.

The 2010s also saw the highest daily maximum temperature records set for the month of February, July, October, November.

Records for highest daily minimum temperature was set in January, February and April between 2010 and 2019.

Dr Mark McCarthy who heads the National Climate Information Centre has said that many of these extreme records have been set in the recent decade.

He also added the warming trend in the UK would continue. The Meteorological office had also said that 2019 was the 11th warmest year on record with an average temperature of 9.42C.
