Tech companies should take responsibility of preventing children from viewing porn- Pope Francis

Pope Francis has urged hi-tech companies such as Google, Apple and Facebook to urgently take measures to prevent children from viewing child porn from the web and in return eliminating access from pornography online.

The pope broached the subject at a Vatican conference “Promoting Digital Child Dignity” amidst religious leaders and high-tech representatives which took place on Thursday. In addition to his statement, he also said that it was no longer merely acceptable to follow law in monitoring online content, mainly because technology was speeding at a much faster rate than regulation.

In such a situation, companies themselves should adhere to moral responsibility in order to protect young people from the dangerous effects of pornography on sexual and emotional development.

Furthermore, Pope Francis also mentioned, “There is a need to ensure that investors and managers remain accountable so that the good of minors and society is not sacrificed to profit.”
