Colorful hot air balloons fill the London morning sky

The London city’s sky was lifted with color as dozens of hot air balloons ascended as part of the Lord Mayor’s Hot Air Balloon Regatta on Sunday morning.

The Lord Mayor’s Hot Air Balloon Regatta is an official ballooning event that takes place every year in London. The event is considered as an aerial extension of the legendary Lord Mayor’s Show.

On Sunday, 46 hot air balloons flew from Battersea Park at 5:15 local time to over iconic landmarks of the London city; Greenwich, the Shard, and Canary Wharf, Buckingham Palace, London Eye, among others. This was the first time the hot air balloons took off from Battersea Park. According to reports, the funds that were raised during the event over the weekend will be donated to three charity organizations, OnSide Youth Zones, Place2B and Samaritans. Founded in 2015, Lord Mayor’s Hot Air Balloon Regatta has raised a total of £250,634 till now.

Moreover, the event draws attention to awareness and raises funds for the Lord Mayor’s Appeal. The event is launched by the hot air balloon which carries both the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress. Other balloons bear the name of the several corporate partners; Ricoh, FreshAir, Renishaw, among others.

The launch of the balloon is dependent on the nature of the weather and mostly driven on good weather conditions.
