In an adorable incident, an eleven-year-old girl wrote to the Government of New Zealand, asking the Prime Minister to conduct research in mythical creatures- the dragons. Reports suggest that the girl apparently added a sum of NZ$5 ($3.20; £2.50) as a coaxing bribe to the Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern. The eleven years, identified as Victoria wishes to master telekinetic powers so that she could train dragons. Arden replied to the chucklesome request on official letterhead, saying the administration was “not currently doing any work in… psychics and dragons.” She also added in a handwritten note, “P.S. I’ll still keep an eye out for those dragons. Do they wear suits?”
A picture of the letter exchange was posted by the girl’s brother on Reddit, a web forum. In his statement the brother said, his sister is influenced by Netflix Sci-Fi series Stranger Things. The series revolves around the theme of telekinesis and telepathy, which means the power to move things using one’s mind. Reports confirm the Prime minister’s reply was genuine and she thanked the girl for her request. “We were very interested to hear your suggestions about psychics and dragons, but unfortunately we are not currently doing any work in either of these areas. I am therefore returning your bribe money, and I wish you all the very best in your quest for telekinesis, telepathy and dragons,” Arden said in her letter.
This is not the first time Arden has replied to a letter by a young girl. Previously in March, the prime minister replied to a letter from an eight-year-old, who had commented: “a good idea to ban dangerous guns.” Arden became a mother to a daughter last year and is known to be responsive to requests by the youth. “I can tell from your letter that you are a kind and compassionate girl, Lucy. I would just like to encourage you to keep spreading that kindness through your life,” the prime minister had responded to the observation made by the girl.
